Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is PNRI like hypnosis?A. No! While the works of Milton H. Erickson are an important part of PNRI practitioner training, hypnosis operates through the verbal pathways in the neocortex. As noted above, PNRI acts through the paleocortex as dominant. Hypnosis alone will not be able to re-imprint and reprogram the "dragons" of the paleocortex. At best, hypnosis will just "paper over" these dragons.
Q. Is PNRI like NLP?
A. No! The work of Richard Bandler, co-founder of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), along with John Grinder, is an important part of the PNRI practitioner training. However, NLP techniques are limited by their action with the neocortex as dominant, and thus the "dragons" of the paleocortex remain unchanged in any fundamental way.
Q. What is a PNRI session like?
A. With a certified PNRI practitioner, a typical session may last one hour. PNRI practitioner fees are similar to other types of counseling or therapy sessions, and session typically cost about $100 per hour. The PNRI practitioner will first observe you, using techniques of Oriental Medicine, along with other tools, to assess your condition and establish rapport with you as a client. Together, you will identify a primary issue to be worked on in the session. You will be asked to really get into the emotional energy surrounding your selected issue. The practitioner anchors this emotional energy creating a stimulus- response (SR) reflex link to the paleocortex. Then, using the basic technique of PNRI you are placed in a specific posture and your paleocortex is brought into dominance, and your neocortex is placed aside. The anchored SR link is then activated, and you are regressed through what is called a transderivational search to the time when you were in your mother's womb. All emotional patterns have their roots in the neurochemical patterns formed in the paleocortex during our mother's pregnancy. Thus, the practitioner's question about "What was going on for you to have experienced the emotions of your issue for the very first time?" can access the primary roots. Then, using PNRI techniques, this foundational root of your negative emotions is removed, and the quantum wave collapses everything in between the origins and the present, and the emotional pattern is gone forever. Additional work during a session using PNRI methods can effectively implant positive synthetic memories to fill in the vacated negative areas with self-actualizing and beneficial synthetic memories.
Q. What is a synthetic memory?
A. In a PNRI session, after the foundational negative imprinting is cleared, a PNRI practitioner guides their client through positive a compensatory experience to re-imprint a synthetic memory. Thus, instead of your emotional "wiring" being connected to a "garbage pile," you become "re-wired" to a "flower garden," by re-imprinting a synthetic memory.
Q What is "imprinting," and how does it work?
A. Maternal stress generates an emotional pattern of over 300 of different neurochemical messenger molecules activating many hundreds of different cellular receptor sites.. From very early in a pregnancy there is a pattern of neurochemicals that is imprinted through a process of cellular conditioning; a process that might be thought of as an orchestration of biochemical "music" that becomes a set point or for cellular balance (homeostasis). After birth, and throughout later life, we all attempt (in various ways) to create a reality field around us that recreates the same prenatal neurochemical orchestration imprinted during gestation.
Q. Are there any precautions?
A. The Prenatal Re-Imprinting (PNRI) therapeutic processes require the client to be free of substances that alter the natural emotional response. PNRI is a powerful technique, and it should not be experimented with in a casual manner. Adequate PNRI training is required to the assure effectiveness of the process.
